Citizens' debate - Common Challenges in Europe

The citizens debate "Common Challenges in Europe - The future of the European Union" taking place in Eger on 3 March is the first citizens' debate supported by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Hungary in the context of the new campaign, "Reflecting on Europe" but the second local event in Eger – Heves county, Hungary (first event on 4 October 2016).

Upon the initiative of Róbert Szabó, President of Heves county and CoR member the event is built up in cooperation with the EDIC Heves, where citizens will have the opportunity to have a dialogue with Ildikó–Gáll Pelcz, vice-president of the European Parliament and Szabolcs Takács, Minister of State for European Union Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office.

The main objective of the event is providing up-to-date information for the citizens on the Parliament’s mid-term elections, the very recent challenges of the European Union, also with a focus on listening to citizens' concerns and proposals on the present and future of Europe and report them back to the Committee of the European Regions thus contributing to the ongoing "Reflecting on the EU" process.
