Briefing on the future of Cohesion Policy beyond 2020

"Cohesion policy, which is the most important tool of EU investment policy and which plays an elementary role in strengthening economic, social, and territorial cohesion within the Union, will continue to play a particular role." This sentence is part of the position of the German Government on the future of cohesion policy.

The European Committee of the Regions adopted on May 11th its opinion on "The future of cohesion policy beyond 2020", which was prepared by rapporteur Michael Schneider (DE/EPP), State Secretary and Representative of the Land of Saxony-Anhalt to the Federal Government.

Shortly before the Cohesion Forum, this briefing session will provide an opportunity to present both the position of the German Federal Government and the position of the European Committee of the Regions and to discuss them with an interested audience in Brussels. This forms part of the activities of the European Committee of the Regions for an Alliance on the future of Cohesion Policy.
