130th CoR plenary session  

The members of the European Commitee of the Regions met on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th July in the 130th plenary session.

On the first day, representatives of national associations of local and regional authorities discussed with CoR members about the Future of Europe. Ms Juliane Bogner-Strauss, Federal Minister for women, families and youth, presented the priorities of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On the second day, Mr Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Climate Action & Energy, Mr Tomasz Chruszczow, High-Level Climate Champion of the Polish Ministry of the Environment, Mr Ashok Alexander Sridharan, President of ICLEI, and Mariusz Skiba, Deputy Mayor of Katowice, discussed with members about climate change.

Los líderes locales y regionales de la UE se reunirán en Bruselas los días 4 y 5 de julio para debatir las cuestiones que más interesan a las regiones y ciudades. Durante el primer día del pleno los líderes de las asociaciones nacionales de entes locales y regionales se unirán a los miembros del Comité Europeo de las Regiones (CDR) para proponer la manera de crear una Europa sostenible, integradora e innovadora. Al día siguiente, y poco después de que la UE haya planteado sus objetivos energéticos y climáticos para 2030, Miguel Arias Cañete, comisario europeo de Acción por el Clima y Energía, el enviado especial de Polonia para el cambio climático y los dirigentes municipales de Bonn (ciudad anfitriona de las conversaciones sobre el clima de la COP23) y Katowice (ciudad anfitriona de la COP24) encauzarán los debates consagrados a lo que la UE debe hacer para cumplir sus compromisos climáticos del Acuerdo de París. Asimismo, se anunciarán los ganadores del Premio Región Emprendedora Europea 2019, un galardón para las regiones que aplican las estrategias empresariales de mayor éxito en Europa.
