The new European Group for Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) with limited
liability 'Arrabona' was registered by the Metropolitan Court of Budapest on 15
June 2011 (date of publication, 4 July).
The EGTC 'Arrabona' is composed of the municipalities of Györ and
Mosonmagyaróvár in Hungary, and Šamorín
– Somorja and Dunajská – Dunaszerdahely in
the Slovak Republic. The population of these cities adds up to more than 200,000
inhabitants, most of whom live in Győr (around 131,000). The Hungarian minority
in the Slovak municipalities represents about 75% of the population.
With its seat in Győr, 'Arrabona' EGTC envisages the incorporation
of more than 120 municipalities as potential partners.
This makes a
total of 20 EGTC setups notified to the Committee of the Regions, with the
constitution of the following 4 more expected soon:
- Tirol-Trentino/Südtirol-Alto Adigio, between IT and AT. National
- Gorizia-Nova Gorica, between IT and
SL. National registration pending.
- MASH, between HU and
SL. Informed about authorisation
in June 2011, more info pending.
- TRITIA, between CZ, SK and PL. Last
authorisation (PL) expected by September-October 2011.
