CoR to discuss energy policy during EU Sustainable Energy Week

26/06/2014   15.00-18.00| Committee of the Regions (Room JDE 52), Rue Belliard 101, B-1040 Brussels
In its opinion on EU energy policy, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) has been pleading for better framework conditions for local and regional sustainable energy investment. A conference, entitled "Local and regional perspectives on the EU energy policy 2030 - investment framework conditions and climate implications" will examine these policy problems in detail. The CoR will host the conference during EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2014.  CoR rapporteurs, key partners from other EU institutions, experts and stakeholders will be present to debate the issues at hand.

We are delighted to number among the speakers representatives from the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Economic and Social Committee, FEDARENE, Energy Cities, Climate Alliance and ClientEarth, and finally, three of our CoR rapporteurs: Mrs. Sirpa Hertell (FI/EPP), Mr. Christian Illedits (AT/PES) and Mr. Gusty Graas (LU/ALDE).
For registration and more details concerning the conference please consult the EUSEW website. In the event, we aspire for a joint perspective of those institutions which are most closely involved in the practical implementation and delivery of the EU energy policy. We wish to debate the local and regional aspects of sustainable energy and climate change from both policy makers and practitioners' standpoints.
The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW)
The EUSEW is a European Commission initiative, which first took place in 2006. This year, it is coordinated by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME), in close cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy.
The week showcases activities dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. It is designed to spread best practices, inspire new ideas and build alliances to help meet the EU’s energy and climate goals.
