The Commission for Economic Affairs held its 18th meeting in Brussels on 24 April 2018.
The meeting will start with a structured dialogue on "Enhancing the Democratic Dimension of EU trade policy: the role of regions and cities". Commissioner for Trade,
Cecilia MALMSTRÖM, will participate as well as European associations of local and regional authorities.
There will also be a brief update on the work of the European Committee of the Regions within the EC
multi-stakeholder platform on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the lunchbreak, a panel debate and a discussion on the consequences of the UK's withdrawal from the EU on trade and economy in EU27 regions and cities will take place. This will include a presentation of the main conclusions of the
CoR workshop organized earlier this year on this topic.
The afternoon session will also discuss and adopt the draft opinion on the
Public Procurement Package by rapporteur
Adrian Ovidiu TEBAN (RO/EPP) (Opinion Number: CDR 5425/2018). Members will have the opportunity to debate over this legislative package with
MEP Carlos COELHO (EPP/PT), European Parliament's Rapporteur on the EP report on this package.
A draft opinion on
Reform proposals for the economic and monetary union (December 2017) by rapporteur
Christophe Rouillon(FR/PES) (Opinion Number: CDR 1039/2018) will also be adopted following a debate with members and
Miguel GIL TERTRE, Head of the Europe 2020, European Semester, Economic Governance Unit in the Secretariat-General of the European Commission.
