The national delegations reflect the overall political, geographical and local/regional balance of each Member State.
The delegations meet before each Committee of the Regions plenary session to discuss the positions of their regions on political issues that will be addressed at the session.
Composition
A national delegation is composed of the Committee of the Regions members and alternates from a given member state.
Close cooperation with the Committee of the Regions
Each national delegation adopts its own internal rules, electing a chair and appointing a coordinator. The coordinators' role is to liaise between Committee of the Regions administration and the members of their national delegation.
The Committee of the Regions offers the following services to national delegations:
- use of its Registry, which manages procedural matters and infrastructure for members;
- priority cooperation with the coordinators of every other national delegation;
- organisation of meetings before or during the plenary sessions and use of meeting rooms.
