Aromatic & medicinal plants sector - cross-border networking and capacity building

The Centro Region of Portugal will hold an event on  28th of September on aromatic, medicinal and high nutritional value crops sector.
This local event of the "Resilient Cities and regions network" partnership is developed in the context of the AGROPOL project. AGROPOL (conducted on behalf of DG AGRI, but also followed by DG REGIO) aims at providing practical know-how on interregional co-operation in the agrofood sector for European regions. The project adopted a "learning-by-doingapproach", identifying two pilot regions. One of the pilots is EUROACE: Euroregion Alentejo (Portugal) -Centro (Portugal) - Extremadura (Spain). In this sense, the event will have a cross border scope.

The main aim of the event is to analyse the development of this sector in the regions involved, bringing the relevant stakeholders from both academia and the business sector to discuss
i) species and production methods,
ii) processing and logistics of intermediary products and
iii) marketing and distribution.

The local event will refer to the CoR initiative "Reflecting on Europe". This full-day event will also bring the EWRC 2017 back to the region, building on the themes debated in our Brussels event, entitled “Resilient
Cities and Regions”. The local event will also address the European dimension while directly referring to the EWRC and “Reflecting on Europe” initiative and serve as an awareness raising for the requisite of EU-level cooperation for the local administrations. The speakers will briefly present the aim, organization and content of the EWRC and will refer to the conclusions of the workshops attended.
